About Us

The Nashoba Robotics team offers students at Nashoba Regional High School (http://nrhs.nrsd.net) a unique opportunity to learn and to express themselves outside of the classroom. It presents a chance for students interested in science, math, and technology to further develop and apply their interests.

The Nashoba Robotics team competes annually in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) high school level robotics competition. In early January of each year, the FIRST organization issues a challenge to all its affiliated teams. Each team then has six weeks to construct a robot to complete the challenge. The robot is then shipped to a regional competition venue where many teams compete for the right to advance to the national competition held in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since the team began, Nashoba Robotics has been attending the Boston Regional Competition (http://www.bostonfirst.org) at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. For more information about FIRST, visit the FIRST web site at http://www.usfirst.org/.

Nashoba Robotics first competed in the 2005-2006 school year. It is extremely difficult to start a new team because of the cost of the event and the support structure needed to successfully build a robot. Thanks to the determination and energy of Alan Levin (NRHS ‘06), Nashoba Robotics was created. Since then, the team has been steadily growing in both size and ability. This has only been possible through the generosity of our sponsors and dedication of our adult mentors.
